Drink Up!

CNN —

“As the new year approaches, you might be thinking about buying a bottle of champagne to ring it in with a celebratory “pop.” But the climate crisis could ruin the party, new data suggests.

The three grapes used in almost all champagne — chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier — are among hundreds on the brink of extinction, according to Silicon Valley startup ClimateAi, which shared data insights with CNN. That’s because the human-caused climate crisis is warming and altering weather patterns in some of the world’s best-known wine-growing regions, including Champagne in northern France.

By 2050, these popular grape varieties may cease to exist.”

2050. Well, we’re good for this New Year’s Eve!

Martha Says….

We read that Martha Stewart prefers Polish vodkas for her cocktails.  Brands like Belvedere use rye, rather than wheat, sorghum, potatoes or sugar beats.  Here’s what Belvedere says.  “Belvedere Organic Vodka is the world’s first Luxury Polish Vodka, produced in Poland’s longest operating vodka distillery, founded in 1910. Belvedere Organic Vodka is created from 100% organic rye.

Belvedere’s Master Rye Distillers draw from a 600-year-old polish vodka-making tradition, to artfully craft Polish rye into an extraordinary vodka of distinct taste and character.”

Start Low And Go Slow

Start low and go slow.  That’s sound advice for marijuana edibles.  Smoking anything is not good for the lungs so lots of folks are using edibles.  The drawback is that ingesting the right amount can be tricky since feeling the effects can take an hour or two versus just a few minutes for smoking a joint.  Edibles effects can also last hours longer than those of a joint so overdoing can be unpleasant if anxiety sets in from overdosing.  Less is more to start.  Be careful out there.

Countdown To Dry January

Dry January.  Sounds straight-forward.  But we’ve been doing it WITHOUT AN APP!!  How insane!  Here’s an app from the land of London Dry Gin called Alcohol Change UK.  And it’s free!  One feature tells us how much money and calories we’re saving.  And theirs badges to celebrate progress!!  What more could we ask for.  Seriously, fitness apps and such really do help.  So we’re going to try it!  Until then, Cheers!!

Tea Time

Inflammation is bad. It is your immune system’s response to an irritant, injury, or infection. In chronic inflammation, your inflammation doesn’t go away, and your immune system continues to send out white blood cells. Your white blood cells may attack healthy organs and tissues. Can drinking tea help with inflammation?  After reading about a National Institute of Health study and this WebMD article, we can definitely say…. Probably.  Maybe. Also, it’s likely tea helps with brain, bone, and heart health.  Hey, it’s tea time somewhere.

Drink Bombs

Nobody ever accused us of going the extra mile to create elaborate cocktails.  Even more troubling, we’ve resisted the cocktail machines that virtually automate cocktail concocting.  But now it looks like there’s a simple solution.  Drink Bombs.  Drop a little ball into sparkling water and add alcohol.  Presto.  There’s fun options like mimosas, margaritas, mojitos, piña coladas, peach bellinis, and strawberry margaritas.  Have we tried them?  Of course not!  But if you were searching for a gift idea for us, well, here you go.  Available from Uncommon Goods.
