Muscle Up

Thinking about owning that muscle car that you may or may not have been able to afford when younger but now is in the wheelhouse?  Google AI has some suggestions and a leading consideration is comfort.  We know that just getting in and out of the driver seat should be a consideration.  You may want to do some stretching beforehand.

“Muscle cars were developed in the 1960s and are known for their performance and good looks. When considering a muscle car for a senior, you can look at things like comfort, visibility, and affordability:

  • Comfort: Make sure the seats are comfortable and adjustable, and that you have lumbar support if you have back problems.

  • Visibility: Check the exterior mirrors to make sure you have good visibility.

  • Affordability: Classic muscle cars can be expensive, with some models selling for millions of dollars. A 2025 Ford Mustang starts at just over $30,000, while a 1965 Mustang GT coupe might cost around $50,000.

Here are some classic muscle cars to consider:

  • Mercury Cougar: A successful launch for Mercury, with 150,000 built in 1967.

  • Dodge Coronet Super Bee A12: A mid-sized muscle car with a 390 hp V-8 engine.

  • Chevelle SS: A popular muscle car that was available with a 454ci big-block Chevy engine in 1970.

  • AMC Javelin: A pony car with a 360 cubic inch engine that produces about 350 horsepower.”

If you have to ask about fuel economy, these aren’t the cars for you!

Let’s Get Small

Happy 79th birthday to Steve Martin! Is there anything this guy hasn’t done? Stand-up, movies, TV, magic, bluegrass albums, books, plays, Tony’s, Emmy’s, an honorary Oscar….King Tut!

Mad Men

On this day back in 2007, the first episode of Mad Men aired reminding us about the three martini lunch. Back in the day!

Shrooms, Weed, Mocktails and Kava Just Don’t Cut It

Alcohol is fun.  Its consumption has serious issues but there really isn’t a suitable replacement for those of us who would love the good without the bad.  This Vox article explores the options and their challenges in detail.  There is no good answer.

Therefore, we call on scientists to get out the beakers and pipettes to create a completely new perfect drug.  Please get busy.

Piercing Eyes and Menacing Scowls

We like Tiki bars.  Why?  It’s a culture of people with the passion for this specific art of innovative cocktails (think rum-based mixed drinks such as the Mai Tai and Zombie) and the exotics of Polynesia and the Caribbean.  We think of escaping to romantic tropical locations without getting on an airplane.

The Tonga Hut, set in the California desert, offers such an escape.  It even has a secret room for Tiki connoisseurs.  We would tell you how to find the secret room but… we can’t remember how we got in.

Past Our Bedtime

We’re reasonably certain that the drunk Americans who spent the night on the Eiffel Tower last week were not Buzzed Boomers. The men bought tickets at 10:40 PM at which time Boomers are almost always in bed.
