Sleep is good. Experts agree. Looking for that exercise endorphin Buzz? You need to be rested.
But what if good sleep is not happening? Can CBD help? We haven’t a clue as we’re too tired to do any testing on our own. However, other folks are checking it out.
Sept. 19 (UPI) — An English man broke a Guinness World Record by having a drink at 67 different pubs in a single 24-hour period.
Nathan Crimp, 22, took on the record for most pubs visited in 24 hours (individual), and he ended up visiting 67 pubs in the Brighton, England, area in the space of about 17 hours.
Guinness rules required Crimp to have a drink at each pub and collect evidence including receipts and witness signatures.
“The hardest part was constantly having to go to the toilet, which took up the majority of the time,” Crimp said.
Eat This Not That says that weight training can burn more calories that the old tried-and-true running. And that’s good news for Baby Boomers whose knees and hips generally don’t care for running. So read this for a full-body weight workout to melt those pounds away! Assuming you’re willing to sweat with some consistency. As Ringo would say, “It don’t come easy.”
In an embarrassing setback for alcohol-swilling USA, a hotel in Bangkok set a Guinness World Record for the largest Negroni Cocktail.
“BANGKOK, Sept 13 (Reuters) – A hotel in the Thai capital set a Guinness World Record on Monday by stirring up the world’s largest Negroni cocktail, with more than 630 litres (1,109 pints) of the bitter Italian drink.
Mixologists at the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok Hotel poured dozens of bottles of the key ingredients – gin, vermouth, and Campari – into an iced acrylic container 1.7 m (5.6 ft) tall and weighing about 400 kg (882 lb).”
USA officials are reportedly recruiting top mixologists to challenge the new record. “This is more important than landing on the moon,” said one official.
We are always open to opposing points of view and that applies to the use of Cannabis as well. And when a news anchor cites personal experience for strongly discouraging the use of weed…. we listen. While Newsmax anchor Greg Kelly Tweeted this last year, the warning still resonates today.
“SMOKING WEED (aka GRASS) is NOT a good idea. I’ve tried it (back in the day) and it was WORSE than anything that happened to HUNTER BIDEN. I “toked up” with some buddies in Kentucky and woke up 4 days later in Nairobi, Kenya. With no idea what happened. DON’T DO DRUGS.”
Baseball playoffs are here and that calls for beer and/or special cocktails. Searching the InterWeb, there is a baseball-related drink for everyone out there but we wanted something simple. We wanted something we could make one-handed so as to leave a hand free to keep our lucky bat propped on the shoulder. The Home Run Highball fit the bill. Whiskey and ginger beer. Add ice. Done. Back to the game.
While we were flipping through our copy of the European Journal of Preventative Cardiology, we read about yet another study that found drinking coffee can be good for you. As reported in Health, people who drank two to three cups of coffee a day had the largest impact—among these individuals ground coffee led to a 27% lowered risk of death. Death bad. Coffee good. One doctor described coffee as a “fairly magical substance”. They’re not exactly sure why that is but we’re guessing they’re all enjoying that second and third cup this morning.
Reports VinePair, America loves to drink. According to a report from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, Americans’ alcohol consumption reached 7.8 billion gallons in 2018. U.S. residents reportedly drank 6.3 billion gallons of beer, 900 million gallons of wine, and 570 million gallons of spirits. As a country, we drink an average of 2.35 gallons of alcohol per capita per year — which amounts to about 501 standard drinks annually.
Which state drinks the most per capita? Surprise! New Hampshire! And the least? No surprise. Utah.
But let’s remember that this isn’t a competition. Although, maybe it should be!
Buzzed Boomer Captain Tony has made sure that visitors to his impressive shop don’t go thirsty. Inspired by Capt. Tony’s Saloon in Key West, Florida, our Captain Tony has outfitted his shop with everything needed to wet the whistle of visitors. Besides an old Coke cooler stocked with adult beverages, the Captain has refurbished an old Hotpoint refrigerator with wooden, sliding shelves to hold the hard liquor and supplies. We found some top shelf tequila on the bottom shelf, sat ourselves down at the game table, and hoisted a few toasts to Captain Tony’s Bar. Even birds will be able to frequent Captain Tony’s Bar when his hand-crafted model saloon birdhouse is placed outside. So thoughtful.
